Know before you go
Cutting the line at the ticket booth, only to end up standing in a queue for the security checkpoint— typically a 5-10 minute wait.
Make sure to give a contactable phone number when placing your booking so that you can be reached if there are any last-minute adjustments.
Every Wednesday morning during the weekly Papal Audience or on special religious ceremonies, there is a possibility that St. Peter's Basilica might be closed to the public and definite days exist where access to St. Peter's Basilica is entirely blocked during the religious ceremony.
A significant issue are the long queues at the ticket counter but the major inconvenience is actually security checks taking up 5 to 10 minutes.
An active phone number should be provided during booking so that we can contact you for any last minute alterations.
Wednesday may see the doors of St. Peter's Basilica closed to some visitors, not because they will be denied entry into St. Peter's Basilica due to the religious function that is the weekly papal audience; a possibility of inaccessibility.
