On reaching there about 10 minutes waiting time can be expected.
With your ID in hand, you'll get the chance to go inside and see the Basilica on your own.
The walk is about 1 kilometer, which usually takes around 20 minutes.
You will barely have time to spend in Piazza San Pietro after the visit, before you have to go back to Civitavecchia.
