This tour will take you to an appreciation of endless works of art, including Michelangelo's 'Pietà,' and Raphael's 'School of Athens.' All this can be enjoyed in a very quiet and peaceful environment with no hustle brought about by large crowds during normal visiting hours.
Imagine walking through these beautiful halls without the noise normally created by hundreds of tourists, with just 10 percent of the usual number present; it feels like having the place all to yourself.
Only a few tour operators offer this exclusive service, so don't think twice when presented with the opportunity to wander through the Vatican Museums in their entire splendor.
After complimentary pick-up from accommodation, skip the usual long lines with an early morning entrance ticket going straight to metal detector control.
Begin the tour on a lovely panoramic terrace that offers a wonderful view of the dome of St.
Peter's framed by the Vatican gardens—an ideal spot for a family photo.
Then go with your guide through highlights of the museums where masterpieces and artifacts from different cultures and civilizations will be seen.
You will see the Pio Clementine Museum.
You will pass through the Tapestry Hall, big and vast.
Then go by the Hall of the Painted Maps to reach the Sistine Chapel, never matched in history, religion, or art.
Just a note: during the Jubilee Year, from the Sistine Chapel, you can't go into St.
Peter's Basilica directly; to get in, go back to where you started and take the Vatican Walls on Viale Vaticano, Via Leone IV, Piazza Risorgimento, Via di Porta Angelica and Piazza San Pietro.
Plan for about 10 minutes' wait with your ID ready; after that, you will be allowed to enter and visit the Basilica alone.
It's nearly 1 kilometer away from it and takes about 20 minutes of walking.
It ends at St.
Peter’s Square, a viewing of the grand façade of the basilica and Bernini’s colonnade.
Lastly, a chance to get to either the nearest taxi station or subway for a ride back to the hotel.
