Live tour guide
Your guide will take you along a lovely route through the Vatican Museums, pointing out key places like the Carriage Gallery, known as the 'Garage of the Pope', where they keep the Popemobile.
See also here the Staircase of Momo, Hall of Animals, Laocoon Group, Torso of Belvedere, Bath of Nero and Flemish Tapestries Gallery from Raphael’s school and wonderful Gallery of Maps.
After this comes your visit to Sistine Chapel made for Pope Julius II to ask Michelangelo in 1508.
You will see Michelangelo's great Story of Creation with more than 300 figures on a ceiling larger than 500m²; such it is that it falls in one of art world's wonders.
Two decades later this same Michelangelo would paint altarpiece masterwork under name The Last Judgment; recognition has held since completion in 1541.
With your eager guide, who has unlocked all the secrets of the chapel, you will come to know Michelangelo as though you were there in his time.
Did you know this place is where the Conclave takes place? We will leave the museums by way of the great 'Scala Regia' and the 'Bronze Gate,' through which you will see and experience firsthand the infamous 'Swiss Guards.' The tour will end in Saint Peter's Square, at which point your guide will say goodbye.
After that, your guide will show you where the metal detectors are so that you can visit the basilica on your own.
Entrance is free; you'll enter the basilica through Porta Santa.
It is recommended to see from dome inside (tickets available on-site at ticket office).
