One can skip the queues while exploring the Vatican Museums and the historical attractions of Rome if desired, it is possible but a bit tricky. During the day, a guide will take you through winding passages in such a way that only a limited number of people could be in the Sistine Chapel at any one time, among hallways and galleries filled with masterpieces from renowned artists. To complete your visit, you can check out The Gallery Of Tapestries as well as The Maps Gallery where long-dead cartographers’ wonderful historical maps are displayed. As part of your morning, start off by heading to the Sistine Chapel and lose yourself in the frescoes that the great Michelangelo painted. If you have an afternoon to spare, be sure to explore the Roman Colosseum, the biggest amphitheater ever built in history – all marvelous to behold. As you walk through its gates, be drawn into tales about gladiators and emperors, also learning more about the different types of combats held within these walls, including those thrilling battles which once drew massive crowds! After being enthralled by the amazing architecture of the Colosseum, take a leisurely stroll towards Palatine Hill where spectacular vistas await you, from where ancient Romans used to gather to trade, worship, or engage in politics.

Know before you go

  • You have to make sure that your knees and shoulders are decently covered if you have in mind to see this place, as it is a dress code for both sexes which can be done by having long-sleeved shirts and pants or skirts that cover below the knee. Failing to do so would result in being denied entry. Security procedures at the monument are extremely severe; they last about half an hour during the peak seasons.
