Know before you go

  • Between March 1st and November 15th every Wednesday the pope is present in St. Peter's Square from nine o'clock in the morning until twelve. The doors connecting the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter’s Basilica will be shut until one in the afternoon, hence excluding a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica on Wednesdays from the schedule.
  • Every Wednesday from March 1 to November 15, the Pope shows up in St. Peter’s Square between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Keep in mind that you can't visit St. Peter’s Basilica on Wednesdays as the doors leading to it from the Sistine Chapel are closed until 1:00 PM.
