From the 12th of January to the 31st of March, there will be extra special care by the Vatican Museums on Michelangelo’s Last Judgment inside the Sistine Chapel.
During that whole time a big scaffolding system will cover up all of the Last Judgment wall.
The Chapel will still be open and fully accessible but this one piece of art is hidden during its restoration.
Thank you for your patience while such a great work of art gets the critical preservation it needs.
Get an early morning entry͏ to the Sistine Chapel and Raphael Rooms because with these, you can feast your eyes on the great works of art by Michelangelo and at the same time maximize your visit to Vatican City.
Meet your guide and start the tour with a walk through the Sistine Chapel, world-famous as being the venue for the papal conclave.
Within the chapel, there is time allotted to discuss its history and architectural techniques typical of their design.
Of course, naturally, one will be able to gaze upon that ceiling marvelously painted by Michelangelo before moving on to your next destination.
Go on to the Raphael Rooms for a private viewing of its fresco masterpieces in an otherwise deserted museum.
After this, your guide will take you back into the galleries of the Museum and show you how to enjoy the rest of your visit.
