Your experience

Highlights

  • You will be led by an expert to the Vatican Museums' splendid papal collection through a special door, not the public one, and into your group of 30 others, which will form the largest one. You will learn about the Sistine Chapel and its "Creation of Adam" fresco, and walk around the famous Raphael Rooms while learning more about the School of Athens.

Full description

A knowledgeable guide will accompany you on a captivating three-hour walk through the Vatican Museums, exploring every corner from start to finish. Skipping the long lines at the front entrance, we'll enter through a discreet backdoor that's reserved for exclusive use by partners of the Vatican Museums. This revered institution holds a wealth of historical treasures; your adventure begins with marveling at masterpieces gathered by numerous popes throughout many centuries. The museum should not fail to be mentioned as it showcases sculptural masterpieces that have been the envy of the world, not just Italy. Equally impressive are the exhibits from the Renaissance period, making this museum a treasure trove of art from that era too. Also, make sure you see Giotto’s and Leonardo Da Vinci’s paintings among other skilled artists’ works that grace these walls; they’re simply divine. A fun fact about this chapel is that it was built during 1471-1483 by Bramante.Later on, Pope Julius II became the sovereign; a single roof was preserved free of any adornment. In 1508, the present Pope received instructions for the building from his predecessor, and suggested by an architect named Bramante as to what it could be (the same initial four numbers give the name and year of birth). Michelangelo Buonarroti prepared a painting known as “The Last Judgment,” thus declaring that reconstruction will finish in time before Christmas festivities start in December 1535.

Includes

  • I have a ticket to the Vatican Museums that will enable you to access the priority entrance for the Sistine Chapel group guided tour, exclusive partner entrance, official Vatican Museum headset, and a visit to the Raphael Rooms.

Not includes

  • There are services such as hotel pick-up and delivery, and a few also go to the tombs of popes.

Not allowed

  • Shorts
  • Regulations regarding strollers are less flexible. When it comes to clothes, it is not allowed to wear hats, short skirts, and sleeveless shirts.

Know before you go

  • The security checks carried out at one of their many airports are systematic, and people arriving in the city should be ready to pass through them. Even during the summer when there are lots of tourists visiting, it is often a tedious wait of almost thirty minutes.
  • It is one of the three major museums in the world, so it is usually crowded. In addition, there are time limits you have to abide by; this is enforced by the Vatican Museums’ guards. Also, you will find many religious landmarks and remember some dress code standards. Among them are not wearing sleeveless tops, mini-skirts, or shorts; at the same time, caps and umbrellas are not allowed inside either. At any entrance, no trolleys, baby strollers, or large bags can go through.
  • A good piece of advice is that you need to be ready to make a five-hundred-meter walk from where I will park the car up to the gate. Another requirement is punctuality because if you are late, we won’t let anybody in.
