Pope's itinerary for his Spanish apostolic tour announced
On Wednesday, the Holy See Press Office made public the program for the Pope's upcoming Apostolic Journey to Spain, during which he will deliver twelve speeches, celebrate four Masses, and have about ten meetings with leaders from the political, ecclesial, and social sectors.
The itinerary will include three principal destinations: Madrid, Barcelona, and the Canary Islands.
Pope Leo XIV will arrive in the capital of Spain on June 6, where King Felipe VI will receive him at the Royal Palace. After this, he will have an interaction with government officials, representatives of civil society, and members of the diplomatic community. In the evening, he will be leading a prayer vigil with youth at Plaza de Lima, which is located in central Madrid.
The following day, on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Pope has a Mass scheduled to celebrate in the famous Plaza de Cibeles, have a private meeting with some members of the Order of Saint Augustine, and then meet with a group of people from the world of culture, the arts, business, and sports at the Movistar Arena in Madrid.

Pope Leo, filled with joy, extends a hearty welcome to the most serene King and Queen of Spain at their arrival in Rome.
Inauguration of the Sagrada Família
The Pope will be in Barcelona on Jun 9 to preside over a very big event in his trip, which is the inauguration and blessing of the Tower of Jesus Christ, a part of the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia.
Crowning the landmark church is the tower, the tallest within the basilica, consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI 16 years ago. Often called a ‘Bible in stone,’ the basilica was conceived by the esteemed Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí – whose legacy is being honored this year, as we mark the centenary of his passing.
Migration and the Canary Islands: An Overview
He will take part in official ceremonies and liturgical celebrations as well as give the usual homily. The Pope is also set to visit a homeless shelter in Madrid and a correctional facility in Barcelona. The last phase of the trip will be dedicated to the issue of migration.
On June 11, the Pope is traveling to the Canary Islands, a group of volcanic islands located off the northwest coast of Africa, which are a significant maritime gateway for migrants on their way to Europe. He will do Mass in both Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, giving some good words to those working in the reception and support of migrants.
Spain's Church Longs for the Arrival of Pope Leo XIV, 15 Years After Pope Benedict XVI's Visit. In Late February, When the Trip Was Announced, Archbishop Luis Argüello, Who Heads the Spanish Bishops’ Conference, Communicated Their Enthusiasm by Urging the Faithful to “Open Their Ears and Hearts” in a Video Message for the Visit of The Pope. He said that Leo XIV would come "To Confirm The Brothers and Sisters in the Faith of the Church, Which Then Becomes Hope and Charity in the Concrete Life of Our Communities."
