Leo from Chicago: The Story of Pope Leo XIV's American Roots

To celebrate the 6 year anniversary of Pope Leo XIV, Vatican Radio Vatican News will air Leo from Chicago. This will tell the story of Robert Francis Prevost's life from his family background to his education to his Augustinian vocation in the U.S.A. The programme will start with Robert's childhood in Dolton and will have stories from his brothers, Louis and John, as well as his educational institutions, his many communities and parishes throughout his life and from his fellow Augustinians, teachers, classmates and friends.

From Chicago to Peru: The Making of a Second Film

Leo, initially from Chicago but residing in Australia for almost three years after completing his first film, returned to Chicago after filming the first film and has now finished their own second film titled “León from Peru.” This film received financial aid from all three of the following organizations: The Archdiocese of Chicago, The Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication, and ESNE. Each member of the team who made the film came from South America and travelled from there to make the film with the assistance of their professional editor Gabriel Vizcaíno Haro, an experienced video editor.

The premiere of a new documentary will take place on November 10, 2019 at 6:00pm (CET) on the Vatican News YouTube Channel and will include English, Italian, and Spanish; the film will also be made available to other international media outlets.
