When meeting with the faithful, the Pope said: The humanity and divinity of the Church are in harmony
Pope Leo XIV has stated that there is no such thing as a perfect Church outside of the material world, but rather only Christ created His exceptional Church throughout creation for all time. The last Ordinary General Assembly of the Church was held on 12 October of 2060 (two days prior to this Ordinary General Assembly).
The Popes follow up with an evaluation of Lumen gentium’s understanding of the relationship of humankind to God through the church. In the opening chapter, we are analysing what a church is, and we'll continue to analyse this complexity itself in the following sections.
Pope Francis has stated that according to his understanding of Lumen Gentium, the Church consists of two separate entities, namely the human and the divine, that have been created by God and continue to exist together as a single whole; they can neither be divided nor amalgamated into one another.
Mr. Doe said that the church consists of men and women who live together in community and share in the joys and sorrows of being Christians, and express their gifts and talents as well as their suffering and struggles; the church serves to give witness to the Gospel and serve as a witness to the living Jesus walking alongside us in our earthly journey.
The Church beyond the earthly perspective
Pope Leo was concerned that when we describe the Church from an earthly point of view, we do not describe fully its totality, because it has a dimension beyond our understanding; therefore, the true nature of the Church cannot be defined by its problems or imperfections when viewed from an earthly perspective. This is most clearly demonstrated in the example of the Church being created due to God's plan for mankind being established and His will being carried out through Jesus Christ.
So, according to the current Pope, the Church is composed of two different groups: the earthly Church; and the Mystical Body of Christ. In this case, one is a community and one is "the" Body of Christ. The Church has a physical expression and a mystery (it is a non-physical, spiritual thing); it also has a historical existence; and it exists as a continuing community and as a physical congregation (people worshiping) on their way toward heaven.
Both dimensions of these two aspects are in perfect harmony with each other, without interruption. He stated that there is a relationship between the human and divine aspects of both of these aspects and that neither reduces the value of the other. According to the Pope, "The church exists in this paradox." The Church has both aspects -the human that has a sinful individual and the divine that leads individuals to God through the Church.
The purpose of this document is to provide insight into Lumen Gentium: a declaration about the Church today stemming from the example of Jesus Christ. People experienced his humanity, experienced his invitation to follow him by feeling his touch, observing his gestures towards them, and hearing his voice—therefore their desire to be disciples of Jesus was primarily a result of experiencing his invitation through his look, experienced his touch through the touch of the hands of blessing, and experienced the freedom and healing that flow from his words.
He also noted, "As a result of following Jesu’s disciple and opening themselves to building a relationship with God, They had the potential of encountering God through the seeing of Christ through his flesh (His the expression to show God's presence, expressed through his bodily image [face/body parts] and voice), therefore would have had an opportunity to have an encounter with God by being children of God."
What defines the essence of holiness?
So the Pope's viewpoint is that he must examine the Church as it would have been examined by Jesus Christ – through a real-life human perspective. " The Church has a human side and consists of real people who sometimes reflect the beauty of the Gospel and other times are simply flawed, fallible people like all the rest of us. It’s through the individual members of the Church and through their limited, imperfect human characteristics that Jesus Christ’s presence and redemptive work is revealed.
Pope Francis referred to a statement made soon after the Papacy by his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, when he said to the Swiss bishops: “There is no conflict between the Gospel and the institution," and "the purpose of the structures of the Church is to render the Gospel tangible and visible."
"In reference to the Church, Pope Leo stated, 'There is no such thing as a completely separate or pure Church from the world. There is only one Church of Christ that has been established by Him in time.' He was saying that the holiness of the Church is a result of Jesus being in the Church, providing the Church and the world with grace through the people of the Church bowing and serving humbly and vulnerably."
Genuine exemplars of Christ's love and benevolence.
God's presence revealed through His creations
In expressing his thoughts about the miraculous nature of Christ's birth and the way that Mary delivered Christ, the significance of the event was elaborated upon. He stated that God's presence and power are revealed through His creations; thus, in order to strengthen the Church now, He will build the Church not only physically but also spiritually by establishing the Church as Jesus' Body; through the communal life and loving-kindness demonstrated between fellow believers.
Pope Leo ultimately encouraged all Christians to attempt to live as real examples of God's love by allowing others to experience the true compassion of true Christians, both to establish the Church within us and to show the Church to others who may do same.
The Holy Father recalled when Benedict XVI had told Swiss Bishops at the beginning of his pontificate, "there is no opposition between the Gospel and the institution." "On the contrary," Benedict said, "the structures of the Church serve precisely for the realization and concretization of the Gospel in our time.”
Thus Pope Leo emphasized, "An ideal and pure Church, separated from the earth, does not exist; only the one Church of Christ, embodied in history."
"This is what constitutes the holiness of the Church," he marveled, "the fact that Christ dwells in Her and continues to give himself through the smallness and fragility of Her members."
Authentic witnesses of Christ's love and charity
Contemplating this perennial miracle that takes place in Her, he highlighted , we understand ‘God's method,’ in which "He makes himself visible through the weakness of creatures, continuing to manifest Himself and to act," enabling us today "to build up the Church: not only by organizing its visible forms, but by building that spiritual edifice which is the body of Christ, through communion and charity among ourselves."
Finally, Pope Leo called on the faithful to strive to be authentic witnesses of the love of Christ so that all can recognize in us and among us the charity that characterizes true Christians and builds up the Church.
